Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar granulated
  • 1 ½ cup apples corked and chopped
  • 2 cinnamon sticks or 1 tsp powdered cinnamon
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Cut your apples into bite size chunks. You do not need to peal them, but you do need to cork them.
  • Place a small to medium size sauce pan over medium low heat, and place all ingredients into the sauce pan. Mix the ingredients and bring to a simmer.
  • Once all the sugars have dissolved, remove from heat and allow to sit for 5 minutes.
  • Strain the mixture over a container to remove any chunks of apples or cinnamon sticks. Store in an air tight container and place in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

My favorite apples to use when making this apple spice simple syrup are gala apples. They are soft enough to break down easily when making the apple simple syrup. If you can't find gala apples, I also recommend using fuji apples.
Storing Instructions:
This simple syrup will stay fresh in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. I do not recommend freezing the syrup.
Time Saving Hacks:
Buying pre-chopped apples will cut down on prep time.
Make this simple syrup ahead of time, perhaps during meal prep, and keep in the fridge for on the go flavor!
