What is there not to love about a perfect cooked sweet potato fry? Absolutely nothing in my opinion. I could easily eat an entire bag in one sitting.

However, I think everyone reading this has been personally victimized by a soggy sweet potato fry. You know, the ones that are full of grease and/or not crispy at all.

While baking is a great way to crisp up your frozen sweet potato fries, air frying frozen sweet potatoes fries in even better.

Air Fryer sweet potato fries are just as good as the regular fried version, except without any oil. They take less than 15 minutes to make and come out crispy, crunchy, and ready for action.

Gabe and I can eat a whole bag of air fryer frozen sweet potato fries in one sitting. Our favorite sweet potato fries are Whole Foods or Alexia frozen sweet potato fries. We have found both to crisp up really well and pair well with sauces and spices.

But, as you know, I hate spending time in the kitchen. Being a lazy vegan means I need to find hacks at all times to make things easier, quicker and well, lazier.

So, I bring you these quick to make, nothing added to ‘em - air fryer frozen sweet potato fries.

Why We Love Frozen Sweet Potato Fries

Dairy-Free  & Egg-Free  - This may seem obvious, but a lot of sides contain dairy or egg. In fact, sometimes they contain both. Onion rings are a perfect example of this.

Nutritious - Yes, sweet potato fries may be a little higher in calories but they are more nutrient-dense than regular fries. They are high in Vitamin A, fiber, iron, and calcium.

Sweet- I love a good sweet and salty combo. I also love a sweet and savory combo. With sweet potato fries, you can have it all.

Easy- There is nothing easier than Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer.  The perfect side or snack for any occasion.

Why You Should Cook Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in The Air Fryer

I am an air fryer addict. I was gifted the Ninja Foodi Oven last year from my parents, and I cannot be tamed.

I actually use it more than I use my regular oven, as mine has multiple settings including baking and roasting. It even has a toaster setting, which means less things on the counter, wahoo.

So, I try to cook just about everything in it. The true star setting, however, is the air fryer.

Air frying is a great, quick alternative to regular frying or even baking. It allows you to use less or no oil, get a great crisp to it and quick dish.

So, being a potato and air fryer addict, I know this would be a match made in heaven.

I carefully tested this recipe many many times to get it right. While it is not hard to do, I learned some helpful tips along the way to ensure I had the perfect crispy fry that was not burnt.

So, let me tell you about them.

Helpful Tips When Making These Fries

Picking the right fry - Picking the right fry for you is important. Whether you like shoestring, thick, waffle, or crinkle cut, pick what your heart desires.

Do note that this recipe is for a normal size crinkle cut fry. Therefore, if you pick a thicker fry or a thinner fry, the cook time may vary.

Do not let thaw - I repeat, do not let these babies thaw. If you let your frozen sweet potato thaw before putting it in the air fryer, it may get soggy and the cook time will be off.

Do not crowd the potatoes - crowding the potatoes will cause them not to crisp up. I know, this is hard when you want to make a lot quick. Patience is key.

If you are using an air fryer with a smaller tray, you make need to do this is sections. If you are using more of an oven type of air fryer, like I did, you will be fine.

Flip- Flipping is key. You will flip these halfway through; this will ensure they get crisp and crunchy.

Do not overcook- I mean, or over fry I guess. This will cause those crispy crunchy fries to burn. Yes, a little charr isn’t bad, but you do not want them to turn into a black crispy stick that has no flavor.

As I mentioned previously, I used crinkle cut regular sized fries from Whole Foods. If you are using a thicker fry, you may need to increase the time. If you are using a thinner fry, you may need to decrease it.

    Ingredients For This Recipe

To make these frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer, you will need a bag of frozen sweet potato fries.

I used crinkle cut sweet potato fries from Whole foods (365 Brand).

Alexia also makes delicious frozen sweet potato fries that do well in the air fryer.

Be sure to look at the ingredients for your fries. Some may sneak in gluten or added sugar. If you are OK with that, that is totally fine. But, it is something to be cautious about.

Unlike many other air fryer recipes, this recipe calls for no oil. I found that it is not necessary to crisp up the fries.

You will flip these fries prior to them sticking, so the oil is also not necessary in that aspect.

If, for any reason, you do prefer to use oil, use whatever high heat oil you prefer.

You will also need an air fryer to make these air fryer frozen sweet potato fries.

I use my ninja foodi oven and I was able to cook ½ of the bag. If you are using a smaller, basket fryer, you most likely will need to do it in smaller batches, as you do not want to crowd the fries or they will not crisp.

How to Make Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in The Air Fryer

This recipe is incredibly easy to make. The perfect lazy vegan recipe.

First, preheat your air fryer to 425 degrees F.

Then, place your fries on a baking tray or the air fryer basket. Make sure they are frozen (not thawed) and make sure they are spaced out to ensure perfect crispiness.

Air fry the frozen sweet potato fries for seven minutes then flip and air fry for seven more minutes.

What Spices and Sauces to Pair these Fries With

I love to add garlic salt on mine. You can't go wrong with regular sea salt and black pepper too.

If you want to spice things up, add some paprika to the mix.

My favorite sauce to pair these fries with is my vegan honey mustard sauce.

If you like a sweeter dip, try my easy vegan cheesecake dip.

If you enjoy more savory, this vegan avocado lime sauce would be great.

Do you have questions? I have answers.

Is this air fryer frozen sweet potato fries recipe oil free?

Yes, it is. This recipe does not require any extra oil to it.

Is making frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer quicker than baking the fries?

Yes, it is. It will take around 20 minutes whereas it will usually take 40 minutes to get a crispy fry in the oven.

My air fried sweet potato fries are soggy, why?

You either let the french fry thaw out or overcrowded the fry on the air fryer sheet. Do not let them thaw.
