INGREDIENT NOTES AND SUBSTITUTION
Tequila. Use your favorite brand of tequila for this recipe! I have made with with blanco tequila, as well as reposado tequila. You can also use coconut tequila if you really love coconut flavor.
Coconut Water. Adding coconut water provides a delicious coconut flavor without being overpowering. It also adds some extra electrolytes to it, which is perfect if you are drinking this on a hot summer day. Use plain coconut water, not pressed.
Fresh Pineapple Juice. Fresh pineapple juice is best for this coconut pineapple margarita! If you use frozen pineapple juice, be sure there is no added sugar.
Fresh Lime Juice. Fresh lime juice works best to give this margarita a nice balance. Store bought lime juice can be watered down and not as pure.
Optional Garnishes - Fresh cut pineapple, coconut flakes, maraschino cherries and a lime wedge.

FAQ
Any unflavored tequila works well for this cocktail. I have made with with blanco tequila, as well as reposado tequila.
I do not add any sweeteners to this cocktail, so it is naturally sweetened by the coconut water and pineapple juice. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, you can add 1 oz of simple syrup.
To make a virgin pina colada margarita, remove the tequila when making the cocktail. Then, after straining it into a glass, add sparkling plain water.
EXPERT TIPS
Adjust to your taste buds. If you prefer a stronger pineapple flavor in this tropical cocktail, add an extra splash of pineapple juice.
Triple or Quadrupole. Making this for a crowd? This pina colada margarita can easily be tripled or quadrupole then placed into a pitcher for a larger crowd. If you do add it to a pitcher, I recommend adding the pineapple chunks and cherries directly into it!
