An Aperol Spritz is my favorite anytime of the year. Aperol Spritzes, and Spritzes in general, are my go to whenever I am at a restaurant. They are flavorful, refreshing and easy for any bartender to replicate.
Gabe and I have always been fans of Aperol Spritzes, but after going to Italy last year, we truly became addicted. We drank them everyday while we were traveling through southern Italy and never got sick of them. Plus side, they are SO cheap in Italy! One spritz was 3 euros!
My friend, Elise, also loves Spritzes! She also is one of my only blogger friends who shares a love for crafting cocktails with me. So we teamed up to make the perfect cocktail. After much discussion, we decided to create this wonderful and refreshing Spiced Orange and Cranberry Spritz! We had a blast creating this and testing different ingredients to get the simple syrup correct. Check out her gorgeous photos on her blog - right here!

Let's make this simple winter spritz!
Ingredients and Substitutions for this Cranberry Spritz
This winter spritz is made with simple ingredients. You will need: Prosecco (I used 90 Cellars); Aperol; Seltzer; fresh Cranberries; an Orange; Raw Sugar; Cinnamon sticks; and Cloves. I have also provided substitutions for you.
Prosecco - As aforementioned, I used 90 Cellars brand. You can use any brand you would like. You also can substitute for champagne.
Aperol - Aperol is the star of the show. If you cannot find Aperol, you may use Campari, which is extremely similiar.
Seltzer - Cranberry or Plain seltzer would be best for this recipe. You may use club soda as well.
Orange Zest - There is zest for one orange in this recipe. You may substitute this from another citrus, such as lemon.
Sugar - I used sugar in the raw. You may use regular white sugar or coconut sugar at a 1-1 ratio.
Cinnamon - Not a cinnamon fan, no problem! You may use omit them. If you do not have cinnamon sticks, you may use 1 tsp of powder in place.
Cloves - If you do not like cloves or cannot find them, add in 2 extra cinnamon sticks.
Optional Garnishes and add ins- In my glass, I added in fresh cranberries cut in half, as well as cinnamon sticks, orange zest and an orange slice. You may also add in rosemary.
Tips to Make This Winter Aperol Spritz
The first thing you will do is make the simple syrup. This is extremely easy, and the spiced orange cranberry simple syrup is the key to this recipe. The spiced simple syrup makes the Aperol flavorful and sweeter, but not too sweet. It is easy to make.
Combine the water, sugar, fresh cranberries, orange zest, cinnamon stick and cloves in a sauce pan over medium heat.
Once the mixture begins to simmer and the sugar is dissolved, remove it from heat.
Place the mixture in a strainer with a bowl underneath to catch the syrup.
You may throw away the boiled cranberry mixture or save it (it reminds me of cranberry sauce and I ate it!).
Place the syrup to the side.
Begin to make you Winter Aperol Spritz. Add 3 oz. of Aperol to a glass.
Then add in 3 oz. of Proseco.
Next, you will add in 1 oz. of simple syrup.
Top is off with 1 oz. of seltzer.
Fill with ice so the cup or wine glass is full. Option to garnish with halved cranberries, orange zest, an orange slice and/or rosemary.
That is it! It is that simple of a drink.
Tips for Storing this Cranberry Spritz
Storing- This Winter Sprtiz should be consumed immediately. Due to the bubbles in the prosecco and seltzer, it will go flat.
Short on time- That is no issue. Make the simple syrup ahead of time and cut any fruit garnishes you'd like. This will cut down on time tremendously, and it will take less than 5 minutes to make this drink.
