If you have been around here for a while, you know I am a brownie lover. Whether it is my Plain Dairy Free Brownies, Vegan Biscoff Brownies, Decadent Vegan Pumpkin Brownies and Gooey Vegan Protein Brownies- I love them each and every one of them. But, these vegan slutty brownies truly have my heart. Whether you're looking for a crowd-pleasing party treat or just want to indulge in something sinfully delicious, this is the recipe for you!

    WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

    • The best of all worlds - The base layer is a soft and chewy chocolate chip cookie dough. On top of that goes a layer of Oreos - yes, the whole cookie! Finally, it's all topped off with rich and fudgy brownie batter resulting in the ultimate indulgence.
    • Easy to make - Have this delicious brownies prepped and baked within 30 minutes. Simply make the cookie dough and brownie batter then layer it in a casserole dish.
    • Perfect for sharing - These slutty brownies are the perfect dessert to bring with you to any occasion, whether it be a picnic, party or potluck. Brownies and cookies are always a crowd pleaser and this recipe combines them!

    WHAT ARE SLUTTY BROWNIES?

So what exactly makes these brownies "slutty"? Well, there's some debate.

Some say it's because they're so indulgent and rich, others say it's because they're easy to make and don't require much effort and others say it is because of the layers!

Whatever the reason, Slutty Brownies are a sensation and a must-try dessert for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Oreos - Oreos are a vegans best kept secret. Use regular sized Oreos (not the thins). You can always get creative and substitute with different flavors, such as the Halloween colored Oreos or mint - just make sure it is still vegan!

Butter - In order to make these brownies both dairy-free and vegan, I used dairy free butter sticks. I always recommend vegan butter sticks, such as Miyoko's Creamery or any block butter for baking because spreads can have air whipped into them.

Sugar - This recipe uses both cane sugar and brown sugar. To ensure your cookies are vegan, make sure to use organic sugar. Conventional sugars can be bleached with non-vegetarian ingredients.

Flour - Both all-purpose flour and Bob's Red Mill gluten-free cup for cup blend will work.

Milk - Any unsweetened plant-based milk will work. I personally find oat or almond works the best when baking.

Dairy Free Chocolate Chips - Make sure to use dairy free or vegan chocolate chips! I like to use Enjoy Life.

    STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Begin by making both the brownie and cookie dough separately. To make the cookie dough, combine the all of the dry ingredients, other than the chocolate chips, in a bowl.
    2. Once combined, add in the wet ingredients and continue to mix until a soft dough forms.
    3. Then, gently fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula. Be careful not to overmix or the batter will become tough and the texture will be off.
    4. Using a separate bowl, begin making the brownie batter. Combine all of the dry ingredients into a bowl.
    5. Once combined, add in the wet ingredients and continue to mix until a soft dough forms.
    6. Then, gently fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula. The batter will be on the thicker side, so you may need to use your hands to combine the chocolate chips into the batter.
    7. Once both batters are formed, grease a 9x13 casserole dish.
    8. Add the cookie dough to the bottom layer and smooth out with your hand so it is one even layer.
    9. Next, add a layer off Oreos directly on top of the cookie dough.
    10. Finally, add the brownie layer on top of the Oreos. Because the brownie batter is slightly thicker, you will likely need to use your hand to even it out.
    11. Add to the oven and bake for 20 minutes. The dish may not seem completely cooked when you remove it - that is OK! Let it sit for at least 10 minutes before cutting into it. For best results when cutting, run your clean knife under hot water before each cut.

    STORAGE

These slutty brownies will stay fresh for up to 7 days in an air tight container in a cool, dry place. If your kitchen runs on the warmer side (mine does in the summer!) store the bars in the refrigerator and allow them to warm up for 10 minutes before eating them.

You can freeze these slutty brownies for up to one month in a freezer safe bag or container. You may also freeze the cookie dough batter and the brownie batter in a freezer safe bag, separately, prior to making the treats for up to two months.

    RECIPE FAQ

My slutty brownies seem undercooked, is this normal?

Yes, slutty brownies are on the gooey side, which may make them seem undercooked to the eye. Because they are vegan and do not use any raw egg, etc, they are perfectly safe!

Can I make Slutty Brownies without Oreos?

Yes, simply layer the brownie batter on top of the cookie dough and bake for the same amount of time.

    What makes these brownies slutty?

Some say it's because they're so indulgent and rich, others say it's because they're easy to make and don't require much effort and others say it is because of the layers!

    Brownie Batter Layer

    • ¼ cup butter melted vegan block butter is best
    • 1 + ½ cup all purpose flour
    • ½ cup cocoa powder
    • ¼ tsp salt
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 2 tbsp brown sugar
    • 3-4 tbsp dark chocolate chips optional
    • ½ cup granulated sugar

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease your 9x13 casserole dish.
    • Begin by making both the brownie and cookie dough separately. To make the cookie dough, combine the all of the dry ingredients, other than the chocolate chips, in a bowl.
    • Slowly pour in the wet ingredients and continue to mix until a dough begins to form. The dough will be soft and moldable.
    • Fold in the chocolate chips and continue to mix until they are well combined. It can be a lightly thick, so using your hands may be necessary.
    • Using a separate bowl, begin making the brownie batter. Combine all of the dry ingredients into a bowl.
    • Slowly pour in the wet ingredients and continue to mix until a dough begins to form. The dough will be soft and moldable - it will not be liquid in texture like non vegan brownie batter
    • Add in the chocolate chips and continue to mix until they are well combined. You may need to use your hands again to mix it completely.
    • Begin layering your slutty brownie bars. First, mold your cookie dough into the bottom of the casserole dish. Do this by placing the cookie dough in the casserole dish and pressing it down with your hand until an even layer forms.
    • Next, layer your oreos. Place an even layer of oreos to cover the entire cookie dough layer. You may need to break some oreos in half to make them properly fit.
    • Next, layer on your brownie batter. You will do this the same way you layered the cookie dough, pressing it down to form a layer.
    • Place in the oven and bake for 20-22 minutes or until you can remove a toothpick cleanly from the center. The slutty brownies will look somewhat raw, as they are a gooey cookie bar. They are fully cooked.
    • Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. For best cutting results, run a clean knife under warm to hot water in between each cut.
